Day two in Barcelona!

When we woke up we had breakfast. We went to the market which is around the corner from us.  It had lots of stalls for meat and fish like in Venice.  But it also had nuts and spices and my favourites were the fruit and lolly stalls.

They had juice drinks of different mixes and iceblocks made of juices.  Bowls of different fruits.  There was so much to choose.
Mum and I both chose fruit cocktails.

Then we went out by underground metro to the Sagrada Famelia, which is famous for being an unfinished church for one hundred years. The builders were still working on it when we got there.  I can understand why it's taking so long to build.  They keep on changing their minds about how to decorate it.  They have statues of Jesus and Mary, they have a spire that looks like a christmas tree with white doves on it, some of the columns have fruit and vegetables on top of them like oranges, lemons, corn cobs and the really tall ones have flowers on them.  Someone needs to take charge I think.  That was on the outside.

I'm not sure what is inside because there was a big line so we couldn't go in.  It stretched around more than two blocks.  The good news is now I had time to get a new barcelona soccer shirt and shorts.

We walked back down the Rambla.  I saw the same guys trying to trick people into playing a game with them and hand over their money.  We watched for a while.  We saw the lookout guys who were watching out for the police.  We saw the men who were pretending to be tourists playing the game.  But I knew they weren't because they were the same men I saw yesterday.  Then the policemen came and everyone ran away.

For tea we went down to the Port where the Olympics used to be.  We had dinner at a really fancy restaurant where everything on the menu had been swimming in the water in the morning.

Dad went to the casino so Mum and I walked back to our apartment along the waterfront.  We stopped to talk to an artist on the Rambla and I picked 3 paintings of places I have been to in Barcelona to put in my bedroom which Mum bought for me.  Tomorrow we are going to Montserrat.  I am not sure exactly what that is though.
