My Weekend In Nairobi

Okay I won't start off with my weekend in Nairobi but I will start with what I did the morning of the flight to Nairobi. So today was no exception to the wake up at 5:45am to hot chocolate ready for Safari ride, about two minutes after we left the "Camp Site" This is what we saw.

A hot air balloon just minding it's own business.

And here's the Cub Lounge. ; ) look closely now...under the tree,,,

Raw meat anyone? Hmm? Hmm? No? Okay then, all the more for us.

After the Safari we flew back to Nairobi, I have to say it was a really bad decent the first drop made you feel like you were on the Tower of Terror at Disneyland.

For dinner we went to the famous restaurant Carnivore where I ate: Ostrich Meatballs, Crocodile Meat Skewers, Chicken Liver, Lamb Chops and Ox Testicles(Yum!)  Eventually I had to surrender by pulling the flag on our table down.

The next day we went on a long drive to our next hotel/Manor called Giraffe Manor where on the way we went to the maybe famous elephant orphanage where I got kisses from a muddy elephants trunk and a mud shower.

Then the bathing began - in the beginning very calmly.

Then it went a bit crazy - elephants slipping and pushing each other out.

No one was spared from the splashes.

But I did get a big wet slobbery kiss .

Then it was on to giraffe manor- out in the countryside.

This was no ordinary manor - it had some very special residents..

And when we first got there we were introduced to them.

Once they got to know me we became great friends.

Giraffe kisses.

Belucca the dog was there to keep an eye on things by biting their buts.

In the morning, they wanted to come join me for breakfast.

Even Dad's mate (PUMBA!) the warthog tried to join us

But I went outside to join them instead.

Don't worry - their kisses are antiseptic - and I got lots of them.

It was sad to say goodbye to my new mates.

Giraffe Manor is definitely one of the greatest Nairobi hotels full stop.

  1. Fantastic close up shots with the Giraffe Joseph - can you imagine me doing that?????? Or any of it really - see you got a bath sort of with the baby elephants too. Great photography of the cubs dinner too.
