This morning we woke up to see the River Ganges and the people conduct their morning rituals which include walking in groups to the river where you wash yourself and clothes, bathe etc. and they then will return. Once we arrived at the river we begun our journey on a rowboat down the river and back up, past our original spot and then landing at another Ghat. During this time we saw a guru walking by, the line where the river can grow up to in monsoon season and the difference in architecture for the different time periods and styles. Here are some of the photos we took, starting with the 5.30am walk to the Ganges.
Bathers, pilgrims, worshipers at the Ganges.
People washing other peoples clothes in the river Ganges for a job.
The washing (and drying) ghat was beside the cremation ghat (on the left)
Sunrise early in the morning
On the way to the airport we stopped in at the airport to see traditional silk creations(we didn't buy any and it's not important but it's obvious the guide would have gotten a commission.). Here are the photos.
After flying to Khajuraho this was our hotel.
After lunch and a nice swim we went to a UNESCO World Heritage temple site with famous temples that were recovered. Here are the photos.
And this is what they are famous for - their carvings.
The last photo shows our guide, Anu. He is really quite nice and I am looking forward for the rest of the tour before heading to Agra(Taj Mahal city). After this we returned to our hotel where we saw a short light and sound show, had a nice dinner and returned to our room for a good sleep.

Fantastic photos loving it Joseph. But I am wondering if the women go in the Ganges or if its only males.
ReplyDeletePS Dont know if its in this blog or later but I like the idea of the queen swinging out over the swimmers in that pool. Seems just right for me!
