Days 3 and 4

Yesterday I woke up to Thunder and Lightning! All the street sellers swapped from sun umbrellas to rain umbrellas, lots of tourists bought them but we were smart and said.... NO grazia!(which means no thank you in English.) Me and mum but mostly mum decided to go shopping. We went to one of the richest streets in the world, because all the famous italian designers have a shop there.  I bought a calligraphy set which is a quill and ink set with different tips so I can write like fancy people. Mum bought shoes as usual.

Dinner in Rome is outside on little tables which can be tricky because I always order pizza and it takes up most of the table until I eat it.  It's funny watching the italian people walk past.  They use their hands when they talk. It reminds me of Kermit the frog in The Muppet Show

After dinner we go to the square called the piazza navona and look at the art. I got the colloseum spray painted for me by this cool artist who uses hairspray and fire balls to finish the painting.

DAY 4
Today we took a train ride to a town outside rome called ORVIETO.  It sounds like icecream to me and it did have some great gelati. It had a big church in the square and is an old city. I mean really old where knights used to live and fight with swords and maces and catapaults and wear chain mail. I got to hold some of their weapons but Mum and Dad said I can't bring them back to NZ to show you guys because the police wouldn't let them in.

Tomorrow I am going to Venice.  I'll tell you more then. CIAO!

Day two in Rome

Did you know that Italians have salami and bread rolls and chocolate cake for breakfast? That was what was available at our breakfast buffet this morning.

We went to the colloseum today. There were heaps  of gladiators outside but I knew they were phonies.  One was talking on his cellphone. Inside they told us what would happen in the olden days. if an emperor came back from battle and succeeded he would make prisoners of war and gladiators re-enact the battle to show how it happened. Sometimes they would fill the colloseum stage with sand and let animals in like lions and put slaves or gladiators in to fight to the death.  Sometimes they would have gladiator fights (man on man) like wrestling WWE. Again they would fight to the death. gladiators would have different tricks. One would be fat (so they could be cut but not die) and the other would have shields or armour (but were slow), another would have nets to get their opponent tangled up.

After that we went to the spanish steps, and people tried to sell us things like roses, umbrellas and torches, but they would run away when the police came.
Spanish Steps

We also went to see a church of skeletons. I thought it would be scary but it was just wierd. the bones of people were made into rooms and chandaliers and pictures.
Last we went to the trevi fountain and I threw a coin which means I would come back to rome another day.

That's it.

First day in Rome

We had to get up really early to go to the airport (5.30 in the morning) but I didn't want to get up. well I did actually but I just couldn't.
When we got there, we went to the smallest country in the world (the vatican) to see the pope who is in charge of the catholic church on earth.  We got there just in time. he stood at a window and everyone shouted out "WE LOVE THE POPE!"  There were nuns and monks and priests everywhere.
il papa

Everything in rome is orange - well every building is orange I mean. There are fountains and statues everywhere. Even humans are pretending to be statues for money.

Our hotel is just outside the Pantheon which is a huge temple now a church which has a hole in the top.  If it rains while you are there you will get wet.  The bathroom in our hotel has not only a toilet but an extra toilet beside it for cleaning your bum. I haven't used it yet. Don't plan on it either.

we went for tea by the piazza navona which is a square with cafes around the sides and huge fountains and statues in the middle. we stayed there till 10 o'clock at night watching the artists and street performers.  I watched an orchestra and hip hop dancers and got an artist to draw me as a cartoon. I also had gelato which is italian ice cream and its delicious.

Mykonos, It's all white in Mykonos!

These are the funny things about Mykonos. the streets are like one big puzzle. The other thing is that they have tiles and inbetween them are painted white lines.  In some streets they are so narrow you have to walk sideways to get down them. we had to walk under a tunnel that smelt like pee.  we had to wait hours for a taxi, but actually that was ok because it gave me more time to eat my icecreams. there was a phone that kept ringing under my seat while I was waiting for a taxi. mum and i looked everywhere for it - even in the pizza box.  we saw lizards on the beaches and millionaire yachts.  children have to learn english at the age of 7.  they also have to choose to learn either german or french at the age of 12.  the greeks like to squeeze my cheeks. i don't know why?!!

The best thing about Mykonos was the infinity pool that we had at our hotel. when you were in it, it looks like it joins with the sea and goes on forever.

Hello me!

Well me I enjoyed Athens very much, and if you ever have the chance to go there you should take it.

QUESTONS ????????????????????????

If any of you have any questions I'd be happy to awnser them : )

More detailed Athens.

While I was there I saw the changing of the gaurd, not the English changing of the gaurd, but the Athenese changing of the gaurd as I like to call it. Here are some photos of the changing of the gaurd, althoug the cables are in the suit case dads going to get them out any way.

If you look clocely at the tips of their shoes they have pom poms, and that they're wearing skirts, but the thing that's not girly is that he's holding a huge rifle. So I wouldn't walk up to him and go "Sup girly". By the way we are going to Mykonos. We also get an Infinity pool at the hotel!
