New York City - Day 4

Yesterday morning we woke up relaxed and ready for a really hot and humid day on our feet. The day started off with us walking past the local food fair right outside of our abode and walking down(after a subway ride) to the Chinatown and Little Italy parts of New York City. Whilst in the Chinatown area we passed the fire station which responded to 9/11, and later a lot of cheap $2 shops selling copies of high cost products. We soon moved to the Little Italy part of town where we visited a deli, past a police station and into one of New York's first pizza parlours, Lombardi's.  This where we experienced another example of portion control American style - the pizza we ordered was very, very big - in fact it really needed it's own place at the table.

possibly the biggest pizza ever!

After lunch we went to the shopping districts where every so often we crawled into the shops for some refuge of AC(ed) air.

That evening we crossed the state line to New Jersey to see Coldplay at the Metlife Stadium.
We had seats near the front so were able to see Chris Martin and the band clearly and were right in the middle of everything.  The stadium is more than double the size of the Cake Tin in Wellington and it sure felt like it when you looked around

Me by my seats near the stage....Let the show begin
When we walked we were given wristbands to wear which had a kind of plastic watch face.  During the night they would light up for different songs and created an amazing affect when you looked around the stadium.  Our wristbands went red when the concert started and there was a huge explosion of red confetti with a headful of dreams  opening song

Adventure of a Lifetime - huge ballons floating around the stadium - at the end of it I caught a balloon to take home
